The Associate will advise on all aspects of litigation and dispute resolution with particular emphasis on contentious insolvency, creditor and shareholder remedies, general commercial litigation, and contentious trust litigation.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Working within the IDR team in the Bermuda office advising on a wide range of cross-border contentious insolvency, corporate and general commercial litigation, trust and regulatory related disputes.
  • Operate as a technical resource to clients providing sound expert opinion and highly responsive service to international clients.
  • Help develop existing client relationships and assist with business development.
  • Support colleagues and partners on operational matters of significance to the firm.
  • Leverage professional and personal global network to grow the firm's resources.
  • Maintain revenue and profitability targets and provide recommendation for optimizing growth.
  • Participate in the development of the practice's know-how, share knowledge, and participate in conferences, seminars, and internal training.
  • Provide technically sound advice and highly responsive service to clients.
  • Independently and/or as part of a broader team, conduct complex, high value litigation in the Supreme Court of Bermuda, Court of Appeal or Bermuda and in arbitration as client needs dictate.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Excellent academic and top-level experience.
  • Bermuda and/or qualified Commonwealth lawyer with 3-4 years' post-qualifying experience at a reputable law firm.
  • Ability to independently conduct cases effectively is essential, with a proven track record of successful litigation outcomes.
  • Determined ability to create and execute business development initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and management experience, including delegating work and overseeing junior attorneys.
