This is a rolling application with a final deadline of 31 March 2026. With a global presence spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, we advise on the jurisdictions of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Ireland and Jersey.
Applicants can choose to apply for the Summer Legal Internship as well as the Jonathan Betts Legal Scholarship and Legal Bursaries through one application. Recipients of the Jonathan Betts Legal Scholarship and the Legal Bursaries will be required to participate in the Summer Legal Internship. Applicants can choose to apply for the Summer Legal Internship and not for a Scholarship or Legal Bursary. Applicants should state whether they are applying for both the Summer Legal Internship and the Jonathan Betts Legal Scholarship/Legal Bursaries or just the Summer Legal Internship in their application.
Our one-month Summer Legal Internship will start on 27 July 2026 and end 28 August 2026. This internship is an invaluable opportunity to see first‑hand what life as a lawyer is like. Through our carefully designed programme which aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, you will develop skills, acquire legal knowledge, and gain insight into industry‑leading transactions while building relationships with legal professionals.
$30,000 Jonathan Betts Legal Scholarship and $10,000 Legal Bursaries for Bermudians or PRC holders who have been accepted to or are enrolled in a qualifying law degree and who on completion of studies, intend to return to Bermuda. Recipients of the Jonathan Betts Legal Scholarship and the Legal Bursaries will be supported financially and professionally through the academic stage of legal training.
As our scholarship/bursary recipient and/or legal intern you immediately become a part of our global team. For five weeks you will be exposed to live matters and undertake true‑to‑life legal tasks while working with associates, senior associates, senior counsel and partners in a core or key to core practice group. You will also have the unique opportunity to meet and collaborate with other legal interns within the Walkers network.
Who we are looking for:
- Bermudian or PRC holder who has completed secondary schooling by the commencement of the legal internship programme and has been accepted into an accredited law degree from a commonwealth institution; or current enrolment in an accredited law degree from a commonwealth institution.
Checklist of documents to submit with application:
- A cover letter which explains why you consider you should be granted the internship and/or scholarship, your interest in a career as an attorney, and why you chose Walkers Bermuda.
- Current curriculum vitae setting out your education and work experience and any other extra-curricular achievements including charitable, sporting and community activities.
- Copies of certificates, together with official transcript of grades from final year of secondary schooling and from any university or other tertiary education institution attended.
- One written character reference.
- One written academic reference.
- One written employment reference (if you have been employed for a period of more than three months).
- Proof of Bermudian or PRC status.
- A letter from an approved university evidencing acceptance into an accredited law degree.
- A sample of recent legal work (paper).

- A letter from approved university stating tuition costs.
- Financial Need Form (please message us for form if required).
- A written undertaking that, if granted the award, you will, if offered a position, work as a summer intern with Walkers Bermuda during the summer period following the scholarship award year.
