Overview Of Role
We have an exciting brand new opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our established yet growing team in the London office. This is an entry-level Assistant opportunity designed for recent graduates or early‑career professionals with a background in business, economics, mathematics, or finance seeking their first step on to the career ladder. The successful candidate will gain broad exposure to financial activities across the law firm and develop practical experience in areas such as AP, AR, billing, bank reconciliation and expenses. The role involves working closely with finance colleagues in the London office and learning on the job. Office: London (60% hybrid required)
Duties, Responsibilities
- Ensure correct VAT treatment for bills;
- Interaction with multiple teams to clarify billing rules and regulations;
- Assisting teams with the editing of time recordings;
- Carry out reconciliations for WIP and AR as required;
- Process all Reversal/Reprint/Write off forms as requested;
- Ensure Billing mailbox is kept up to date and all queries are dealt with in a timely manner;
- Bank Posting of cash receipts and payments daily;
- Verification and set up of new payees on banking system;
- Attend the bank with cheque lodgements;
- Prepare bank reconciliations: Client accounts – monthly; office accounts - monthly;
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the purpose of the job, including the performance of duties outside normal working hours;
- Assist other members of the finance team where possible during busy periods.

- Recent Graduate or A‑Level educated;
- Methodical and careful in your approach;
- Work independently and as a team member;
- Tact and diplomacy to deal with confidential matters;
- Manage a complex and demanding workload and prioritise tasks and projects to meet work standards and personal performance targets;
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. This will include high quality correspondence;
- Use and update computerised systems, including the accounts system, spreadsheets, word processing programs, with genuine interest in developing IT skills; training will be provided;
- Participate in continuously improving services through critically evaluating systems of work, promoting new ideas and actively developing service improvements;
- Work in a flexible manner and respond to changing circumstances and emergency situations;
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential; training will be provided.
