Reporting to: Transport Operations Manager

Schedule: Monday – Friday between 06.00hrs and 19.00hrs on a rota basis. 1 in 4 Saturdays 06.00hrs to 12.00noon paid additionally to salary.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a high performing, motivated, hands-on Transport Planner to join our existing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning our vehicles effectively to achieve OTIF (On Time In Full).
  • Ensuring all customer collections are achieved.
  • Changing schedules to meet customer/network demands.
  • Liaising with drivers and colleagues to ensure all day-to-day activities are met to the highest possible standards.
  • Ensuring our drivers are delivering OTIF and reporting delays effectively.
  • Trouble shooting critical transport related issues as they arise in a live environment.
  • Managing Company expectations by ensuring drivers are effectively using in-cab technology and obtaining Pod’s eta’s and relevant paperwork.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Experience of pallet network operations is essential.
  • The ability to utilize and manage drivers effectively.
  • Good knowledge of computer skills is required.
  • Good geographic/road network knowledge of the DE/WS is essential.
  • Flexible approach with regards to working hours.
  • Able to work under pressure in a time-critical environment.
  • Previous experience of working with Transport Planning and Management Systems.
  • Well organized with acute attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have been a transport planner for a minimum of 2 years, with a proven track record, strong communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with other departments.
