Eden Scott is delighted to be retained by Walkers Shortbread, to recruit an experienced professional for the position of Food Technologist. Joseph Walker founded Walkers Shortbread when he opened his bakery in the Speyside village of Aberlour in 1898 where Walkers remains to this day. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Food Technologist to join our close-knit team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the highest standards across our ingredients and packaging, working with suppliers, and collaborating closely with our internal teams.
This is a full time, permanent role. 38 hours per week (8am-4:30pm Mon - Thu / 8am-2:30pm Fri), 5 days in the office would be preferable however hybrid would be considered.
- Approve and monitor ingredient suppliers, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
- Liaise with labs, conduct traceability exercises, and take action on food safety alerts.
- Support NPD approvals and provide technical expertise to the Supplier Quality Manager.
- Stay ahead of developments in food legislation, labelling, and certification standards.
A degree or diploma in Food Science or Packaging Technology (or a related field) is required. Ideally 3-5 years experience, though we are open to those earlier in their career who can demonstrate passion and capability. Knowledge of food/packaging legislation, labelling requirements, and certification standards (BRC, FSSC22000) is an advantage.
