Overview of role

Walkers is offering a unique opportunity to an ambitious, technically strong lawyer to be a part of its market leading Insolvency and Dispute Resolution team ("IDR") and to assist in the continued growth of the Channel Islands' IDR practice. The successful candidate will be based in Walkers' Jersey office and will work alongside leading IDR practitioners in a range of financial services disputes, further developing significant recent expansion in the team.

Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification

  • Acting in respect of contentious financial services related issues, including insolvency, private client and corporate disputes.
  • Representing blue chip client base including global corporations, insolvency practitioners, banks and other financial services institutions.
  • Advising commercial clients and intermediaries on all aspects of commercial litigation, from pre-emptive injunctions and disclosure applications through substantive proceedings to enforcement and asset recovery.
  • Advising trustees, beneficiaries, enforcers and protectors on high-value trust disputes, often with cross-border elements.
  • Advising insolvency practitioners, creditors, directors and shareholders on contentious and non-contentious insolvency related matters.
  • Providing expert support to Walkers' corporate, investment funds and private capital teams, working on transactions for clients, analysing and advising clients on relevant case law and legislation.
  • Developing and expanding client relationships.
  • Developing of Walkers' internal know-how and actively participating in conferences, seminars and internal training.

Education, Skills & Experience

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' post qualification experience in insolvency and/or commercial litigation in a recognised practice.
  • Excellent academics.
  • Ambitious and commercially driven.
  • Jersey or other offshore jurisdiction experience preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment - a team player, willing to support others.
