Due to continued growth, we are looking for an organised and proactive Transport Manager to join our Logistics team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods across the business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with transport or logistics experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating operations, managing drivers and improving transport performance.

The Role

As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and managing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and in line with operational requirements. Working closely with Logistics, Supply Chain, Commercial teams and external hauliers, you will coordinate routes, manage fleet performance and help drive continuous improvement across transport activities while maintaining full compliance with transport legislation and health & safety standards. You will also play an important role in promoting Walkers' quality culture, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, legality, quality and product authenticity are maintained throughout transport operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing drivers, vehicle schedules and delivery routes to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Supporting transport planning activities to maximise delivery performance and fleet utilisation
  • Monitoring compliance with transport legislation, company policies and health & safety requirements
  • Coordinating vehicle maintenance, servicing and roadworthiness checks
  • Monitoring transport KPIs including on-time delivery, fuel usage and operational costs
  • Investigating transport incidents, delays, complaints and service issues, implementing corrective actions where required
  • Working closely with external hauliers, customers and suppliers to ensure smooth delivery operations
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transport efficiency and customer service levels
  • Maintaining accurate transport records, documentation and compliance reporting
  • Assisting with driver management, communication and performance support

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented and confident coordinating multiple priorities within a busy logistics environment.

Essential:

  • CPC licence qualification
  • Experience within transport, logistics or fleet operations
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements
  • Ability to coordinate routes and manage fleet operations effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems
  • Aware of budget control and transport cost management
  • GCSE English and Maths (Level 4 or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Logistics or Supply Chain qualification
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
