Our client, a well-established and technically respected engineering organisation operating within the UK power and electrical infrastructure sector, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis to support continued growth. The business delivers bespoke HV and LV switchgear and control panel solutions for a broad industrial and commercial client base across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop detailed HV/LV switchgear and control panel layouts using CAD software
  • Produce electrical schematics, GA drawings, and panel arrangements to client specifications
  • Collaborate with project engineers to ensure correct component selection in line with standards, availability, and cost targets
  • Generate complete BOMs / parts lists to support procurement and manufacturing
  • Ensure all designs comply with current British Standards, industry regulations, and internal procedures

Essential Requirements

  • Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience in LV switchgear and electrical installation design
  • Strong understanding of BS standards and electrical compliance
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings
  • Experience with CAD systems (EPLAN highly desirable)
  • Strong technical communication skills and fluent English
  • Right to work in the UK
