Walker and Sloan are currently working with a well-established and respected civil engineering contractor based in Stroud. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundworks projects across the region, they are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our growing team.
The Role
As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of the tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring competitive, accurate, and commercially sound bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Managing the full bid process, including subcontractor enquiries and pricing
- Identifying risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
- Preparing and presenting tender adjudications to senior management
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Supporting pre-construction and handover to delivery teams
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant estimating experience within civil engineering (groundworks, infrastructure, highways, drainage, or similar)
- Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and risk management capability
- Is confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Has excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Can work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
- Is highly organised with strong attention to detail
A relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) is desirable.
