A leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Associate to join its expanding Manchester office. Working predominantly with private sector clients and developers, you will lead the commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to step into an Associate-level position, or an established Associate seeking a fresh challenge within a growing consultancy.

You will enjoy significant client exposure, lead major commissions and play an active role in mentoring junior surveyors while helping to grow long-term client relationships.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the delivery of pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying services across multiple projects
  • Preparing feasibility studies, cost plans and development appraisals
  • Advising developers and private sector clients throughout the development lifecycle
  • Developing procurement strategies and managing tender processes
  • Preparing tender documentation and evaluating returned tenders
  • Administering JCT contracts and providing contractual advice
  • Producing cost reports, valuations and financial forecasts
  • Managing variations, commercial risk and change control
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Providing value engineering advice to maximise project value
  • Acting as the commercial lead during client and project meetings
  • Mentoring and developing junior Quantity Surveyors within the team
  • Supporting business development activities and maintaining key client relationships
  • Assisting with the strategic growth of the Manchester office
About You

You should have:

  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Associate Quantity Surveyor within a construction consultancy
  • Strong experience working with private sector clients and property developers
  • Proven ability to deliver both pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying services
  • Excellent cost planning and commercial management skills
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement routes
  • Confident managing multiple commissions and leading project teams
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • MRICS Chartered status is highly desirable
  • Commercially minded with an interest in developing new business opportunities
  • Full UK driving licence
