A leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join its delivery team on a flagship hyperscale data centre development in Hayes, West London. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of the engineering function on one of the UK's largest mission-critical construction projects. The development comprises 18 data halls, supporting high and medium voltage energy centres, associated infrastructure and complex engineering systems, requiring exceptional technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

As the senior engineering lead, you will be responsible for technical governance, engineering assurance and quality management across the project, ensuring all works are delivered safely, compliantly and in accordance with approved design information, contractual obligations and engineering best practice.

Role Overview

  • Leading the engineering function across a major hyperscale data centre project
  • Establishing engineering governance, technical assurance processes and quality standards
  • Providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Managing engineering interfaces across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical packages
  • Overseeing technical coordination and engineering compliance across all project disciplines
  • Owning the project's quality assurance strategy, inspection regime and engineering assurance framework
  • Managing NCRs, technical deviations and concession processes, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively
  • Identifying and mitigating technical risks that could impact programme, quality, safety or commercial performance
  • Supporting project teams with engineering advice throughout construction, commissioning and handover
  • Leading, mentoring and developing Senior Engineers and wider engineering teams
  • Driving continuous improvement, lessons learned and engineering best practice across the project

About You

  • Significant experience leading engineering teams on major construction or infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience as a Project Engineering Manager, Engineering Manager, Technical Manager or Senior Engineering Lead
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, technical assurance and quality management systems
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex construction projects
  • Excellent knowledge of design management, constructability and buildability principles
  • Experience delivering large-scale data centre, mission-critical, healthcare, pharmaceutical or similarly complex projects would be highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts, with experience working in collaborative project environments
