A senior commercial leadership opportunity for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established residential main contractor delivering large-scale housing schemes across the South West. This role offers genuine influence over commercial strategy, team leadership and project performance within a business with a strong pipeline and long-term frameworks.

You’ll lead the commercial function on major residential developments, supporting operational teams while shaping best practice and mentoring commercial staff.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading commercial delivery across multiple residential projects.
  • Managing and mentoring Senior QS, QS and Assistant QS staff.
  • Overseeing budgets, forecasts, CVRs and commercial reporting.
  • Driving procurement strategy and subcontractor negotiations.
  • Managing risk, variations, claims and final accounts.
  • Ensuring commercial compliance with contracts and governance.
  • Working closely with senior operational and regional leadership.
  • Supporting business planning and future project mobilisation.
About You

You should have:

  • Proven experience as a Managing QS or Senior QS ready to step up.
  • Strong background in residential main contracting or housebuilding.
  • Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge (JCT).
  • Confident leader with experience managing teams and workloads.
  • Commercially astute, analytical and solutions focused.
  • Strong communicator with senior stakeholders and clients.
