Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding regional construction contractor to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial delivery of a flagship project in Bath. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly respected contractor with a reputation for delivering high-quality, complex projects across the South West. The successful candidate will take ownership of one of the business's most significant live schemes, providing commercial leadership from procurement through to final account.
We're looking to speak with experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors who enjoy taking responsibility, influencing project outcomes, and working closely with operational teams to drive successful delivery.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the overall commercial management of a flagship construction project in Bath. Working alongside the Project Director and wider site team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the project is delivered profitably, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply-chain partners. This is a highly visible position within the business and offers the opportunity to take ownership of a major scheme from a commercial perspective.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the commercial delivery of a flagship construction project
- Managing procurement and subcontractor package awards
- Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts, and CVRs
- Administering subcontract accounts, variations, and final accounts
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting programme delivery through effective cost management
- Producing accurate monthly commercial reports for senior leadership
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members where required
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
- Proven track record delivering major construction projects
- Strong understanding of JCT contracts and commercial management processes
- Excellent negotiation and subcontract procurement experience
- Commercially astute with strong financial and analytical skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ambitious, proactive, and capable of operating autonomously on large-scale schemes
