Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding regional construction contractor to recruit a Site Manager for a major refurbishment project in Cardiff. Our client is one of the South West's most respected contractors, delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors and maintaining an excellent reputation for collaboration, quality, and repeat business.

Due to a significant project award, they are now looking to appoint a Site Manager to join the delivery team on a c.£10m refurbishment scheme. This is a key Number 2 position, working closely alongside an experienced Project Manager and offering excellent exposure to the successful delivery of a complex, high-profile project.

The Role

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme. Working closely with the Project Manager, you'll coordinate subcontractors, manage site activities, and maintain the high standards expected on a flagship refurbishment project. This role would suit an ambitious Site Manager looking to further develop their career within a supportive and highly experienced project team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing day-to-day site operations across a major refurbishment scheme
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour
  • Driving programme performance and ensuring key milestones are achieved
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of health, safety, and quality
  • Managing site logistics and short-term programming activities
  • Conducting site inspections and quality checks
  • Supporting project reporting and progress meetings
  • Liaising with consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives
  • Assisting with project commissioning, snagging, and handover activities

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience as a Site Manager within a main contractor environment
  • Proven track record delivering refurbishment, commercial, education, healthcare, or public sector projects
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site management processes
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with site teams and subcontractors
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualified
