An exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to join a specialist contractor delivering technically complex projects across the defence, data centre and energy sectors. This role offers the chance to lead design delivery from bid stage through to project completion, ensuring projects are coordinated, compliant and commercially successful. You’ll work closely with operational, commercial and pre‑construction teams on high‑profile projects within highly regulated environments.
Role Overview
- Leading design management from pre‑construction through to handover.
- Managing consultant and subcontractor design teams.
- Coordinating design deliverables with programme and procurement requirements.
- Managing change control, risk and compliance.
- Supporting value engineering and buildability reviews.
- Managing RIBA and design approval processes.
- Supporting technical reviews and tender submissions.
- Ensuring designs align with Employer’s Requirements and project specifications.
- Managing design quality, HSE and regulatory compliance.
- Supporting and mentoring junior design team members.
About You
- Experience as a Senior Design Manager within construction.
- Strong understanding of D&B delivery and technical coordination.
- Experience across pre‑construction and live project delivery.
- Strong understanding of Building Regulations and CDM compliance.
- Commercially aware with strong leadership skills.
- Relevant construction qualification and CSCS card preferred.
