Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding regional construction contractor to recruit a Senior Site Manager to lead the delivery of a flagship £3m new build school project in Gloucester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take ownership of a high-profile education scheme from inception through to completion, working for a contractor renowned for delivering high-quality projects across the South West and Midlands. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving programme performance, maintaining exceptional safety standards, and ensuring a first-class project is delivered for both the client and end users.

The Role

As Senior Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of a £3m new build school development in Gloucester. Working closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, consultants, and subcontractors, you will ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This role offers the opportunity to lead a meaningful project that will have a lasting impact on the local community while representing a contractor with an excellent reputation for collaborative delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all on-site construction activities from commencement through to completion
  • Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour
  • Driving programme performance and ensuring key milestones are achieved
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Managing site logistics, sequencing, and short-term programming
  • Conducting regular site meetings and progress reviews
  • Ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout all stages of construction

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience as a Senior Site Manager or experienced Site Manager within a main contractor environment
  • Proven track record delivering new build construction projects
  • Education sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation and site management procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors effectively
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications
