Walker and Sloan are proud to be working with a well-known Branding and Performance Marketing Agency in Cardiff as they are looking to add an established Senior Account Manager to their Client Services team on a full-time basis.
Salary: Up to £40k
Location: Cardiff (5 days in office)
The role: The agency is looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager to join our growing, ambitious agency team. This senior, client-facing role blends account leadership, project management and strategic marketing, with clear commercial accountability. You will play a pivotal role in driving work through the agency, from initial opportunity and strategic thinking through to delivery, performance review and finally accurate invoicing. The role is measured against monthly revenue targets, so you’ll need to be confident owning both client relationships and commercial performance, while working collaboratively with Directors and specialist teams to deliver outstanding work. You’ll bring a strong understanding of the full-marketing mix, including digital (note: this is not an operational media-buying role). Execution of digital is delivered by specialist internal teams and trusted consultants; your role is to set direction, manage delivery, challenge performance and ensure results. You must have prior experience working within a busy design, marketing or digital agency environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Client leadership and relationship management
- Be one of the senior day-to-day contacts for a portfolio of client accounts
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term client relationships
- Lead client meetings, workshops and status calls with accuracy and confidence
- Provide strategic guidance across brand, campaigns, digital and integrated marketing
- Manage client expectations around scope, timings and deliverables
- Develop and oversee content messaging and campaign narratives
- Lead high-level storyboarding for video, animation and social content to brief designers and creatives
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail across strategy, advertising, copywriting and proofing
- Drive projects through the studio to meet agreed objectives, timelines and targets
Project & delivery management:
- Own end-to-end management of projects across multiple accounts
- Translate client briefs into clear and accurate scopes, timelines and internal briefs
- Coordinate internal and external teams including designers, digital specialists, copywriters and directors
- Ensure work is delivered on time, on budget and to brief
- Proactively identify and resolve risks relating to scope, budget or resource
- Maintain high standards of organisation, documentation and follow-through
Strategic and marketing oversight:
- Contribute to the development and creation of brand, campaign and digital strategies
- Evaluate briefs and recommend appropriate channel mixes across both digital and traditional platforms
- Develop activation approaches covering; audience definition, user journeys and funnel thinking with engagement and conversion expectations
- Create integrated, multi-channel marketing strategies
- Translate strategic thinking into clear, actionable plans for delivery teams
- Identify opportunities to upsell additional services to existing and new clients
Digital and performance understanding (strategic level):
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of; Paid media (search, social, display), SEO principles, CRO and user experience, Email and CRM-led marketing and Analytics and performance reporting
- Act as the strategic bridge between clients and digital consultants
- Review and contribute to campaign reports, providing clear insight and recommendations
- Hold a strategic understanding of CMS-driven websites, lead generation mechanics and analytics
Commercial accountability and revenue targets:
- Take ownership of a monthly revenue target (dependent on experience)
- Drive billable work through existing client relationships via; Strategic planning, Campaign and project development, Retainer growth and Identification and conversion of new opportunities
- Ensure all work is appropriately scoped, costed, approved and invoiced in a timely manner
- Work closely with Directors to forecast pipeline, manage workload and align resources
- Maintain visibility of account performance, budgets and profitability
- Take responsibility for the overall commercial health of assigned accounts
This is not a hard sales role, but it does require strong commercial confidence and accountability.
Agency contribution:
- Contribute to pitches, proposals and new business activity
- Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and internal teams
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, platforms and best practices
- Be a positive, senior presence within the agency, supporting clarity, structure and momentum
