A leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager / Contracts Manager to join its growing team based in Avonmouth. Operating across some of the UK's most technically demanding construction environments, the business delivers highly regulated projects for clients within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, cleanroom and laboratory sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced construction professional to oversee multiple live projects from pre-construction through to completion.

Splitting your time between the office (2-3 days per week) and site (2-3 days per week), you'll work closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the exceptionally high standards expected within regulated environments.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing multiple specialist construction projects simultaneously from pre-construction through to handover
  • Taking overall responsibility for programme, commercial performance and project delivery
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinating design teams, site teams, subcontractors and specialist suppliers
  • Producing and managing detailed construction programmes
  • Monitoring project budgets and working closely with the commercial team to maximise profitability
  • Chairing client, design and progress meetings
  • Managing project risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with programme, specification and quality standards
  • Maintaining strict compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures
  • Managing subcontractor performance and resolving technical or programme-related issues
  • Supporting procurement activities and construction planning
  • Building long-term relationships with key clients and identifying opportunities for repeat business
  • Mentoring Project Managers and Site Managers where required
About You

Previous experience as a Senior Project Manager, Contracts Manager or Project Director within the construction industry. Experience delivering technically complex construction or fit-out projects. Previous exposure to cleanrooms, laboratories, healthcare, pharmaceutical, life sciences, advanced manufacturing or other highly regulated environments would be highly advantageous. Strong programme and project management skills. Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management abilities. Good commercial awareness and experience working alongside Quantity Surveyors. Strong understanding of JCT contracts. SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications preferred. Full UK driving licence. Happy to split your time between the Avonmouth office and project sites across the UK.
