Walker Riverside Academy, located on Waverdale Avenue, Newcastle upon Tyne, is inviting applications for an experienced Deputy Headteacher. The role supports the Headteacher and the Trust in leading the Academy through its next phase of development and making a real impact on pastoral standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the vision, strategy, and daily management of student behaviour and attendance.
- Provide strategic oversight of inclusion, SEND, and safeguarding.
- Line manage a team of three Assistant Headteachers dedicated to attendance, inclusion, and SEND.
- Line manage an extensive team of pastoral staff.
- Represent the Academy within the wider Trust and set benchmark pastoral standards.
Qualifications
- Senior leadership experience in a secondary school environment.
- Broad and positive experience of whole‑school pastoral leadership.
- Strong capability in managing behaviour, attendance, SEND, and safeguarding.
- Evidence of effective team leadership and operational management.
