Overview
We are looking for paralegals to join our team. As part of a group of over 20 paralegals, you will provide essential support to fee-earning departments. You will benefit from group training, team-building days, and regular social activities.
Our paralegals have a dedicated manager who offers personalised support to aid your development. This includes regular one-to-one check-ins and appraisals, tailored development plans, and full access to a suite of reporting tools. You will also receive tailored learning and development support from our in-house team, with access to courses that meet your training needs and requests.
You will be assigned to a legal department that offers fantastic growth opportunities, including access to quality work, client secondments, off-site meetings, and more. There will be opportunities to work with multiple departments, giving you exposure to different types of legal work and new tasks.
As a paralegal, you will:
- Handle your own caseload of files (where appropriate) from instruction, to issuing proceedings and enforcement and under the supervision of a more senior fee earner.
- Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision. In particular:
- creation of first draft client documentation;
- generation of suitable client care correspondence;
- maintaining key client relationships;
- drafting of petition/court documentation;
- attendance at routine meetings/hearings plus minute taking responsibilities.
- Deal wherever possible with routine client enquiries and communications.
- General administrative tasks to support fee earners including monthly reporting on cases for client purposes and invoicing of files.
- Deputise for fee earners in their absence if necessary, passing urgent issues to another senior fee earner for guidance.
- Use the telephone to allow for quick response answers/client chasers.
- Provide support to other fee earners in various departments as and when required.
We are looking for:
- Law Degree or Law Conversion qualification is prefer preferred but not essential.
- Previous Paralegal experience is preferred but not essential β training is provided.
- You will be a committed team player who is able to work across multi departments.
- Be able to communicate confidently both verbally and written with senior team members.
- Have sufficient IT knowledge of Microsoft programmes, with a particular focus on Excel.
- Be able to quickly identify clients' needs and always provide excellent service.
- Effectively prioritise tasks based on importance and urgency.
- Act positively towards change and actively contribute to the delivery of departmental goals.
- Show enthusiasm and resilience even when in demanding situations to overcome challenges.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues across multi departments.
We have hybrid working options at Walker Morris; however, a commitment to office-based working is beneficial in this role to enable you to provide a complete service to clients.
