We are seeking a paralegal to join our Real Estate team, with the unique opportunity to work as an embedded member of the department. You will provide hands-on support directly to fee-earners, gaining in-depth exposure to Real Estate matters and becoming an integral part of the wider team. Our Real Estate paralegals have dedicated fee-earners who offer personalised support to aid your development. This includes regular one-to-one check-ins and appraisals, tailored development plans, and full access to a suite of reporting tools. You will also receive tailored learning and development support from our in-house team, with access to courses that meet your training needs.
As a Paralegal at Walker Morris, you will act as a key point of contact for lawyers and support staff, providing assistance across a range of matters while managing your own caseload where appropriate. You will gain valuable experience working closely with Partners and Directors, with opportunities to support on projects, attend external client meetings, and take ownership of defined pieces of work.
As a paralegal, you will:
- Handle your own caseload of files (where appropriate) from instruction, to issuing proceedings and enforcement under the supervision of a more senior fee earner.
- Undertake certain elements of fee earning work under supervision, including:
- creation of first draft client documentation;
- generation of suitable client care correspondence;
- maintaining key client relationships;
- drafting of petition/court documentation;
- attendance at routine meetings/hearings plus minute taking responsibilities.
We are looking for:
- Hold a Law Degree or Law Conversion qualification with a minimum of 2:1 classification.
- Have previous Paralegal experience within a commercial Law Firm, preferably in the remit of Real Estate – however full training is provided.
- You will be a committed team player who is able to work with multiple colleagues.
- Be able to communicate confidently both verbally and written with senior team members.
- Have sufficient IT knowledge of Microsoft programmes, with a particular focus on Excel.
- Effectively prioritise tasks based on importance and urgency.
- Act positively towards change and actively contribute to the delivery of departmental goals.
- Show enthusiasm and resilience even when in demanding situations to overcome challenges.
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues across multi departments.
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday 9-5:30. We offer hybrid working options at Walker Morris with a minimum of 60% of your time spent in the office; however, a commitment to office-based working is beneficial in this role, as it enables you to provide a comprehensive service to clients.
Some of our benefits include:
- £26,228 per annum rising to £27,228 after 1-year
- Annual performance-based bonus scheme.
- Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday per year.
- Auto enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, and we'll contribute a minimum of 6% of your salary. 4x your annual salary in the event of a death in service.
