Our client, a global property group, is looking for an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join their London team for an initial period of 6 months. The successful candidate will have substantial experience with service charge and property accounting.

Description

  • Act as the internal subject matter expert on service charge across the portfolio.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual service charge related accounting and processes including budgets, forecasts and annual reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review year-end service charge packs and manage all irrecoverable service charges and direct costs.
  • Support new service charge processes for new ERP software.
  • Review and support legacy cash reconciliations of service charge accounts.
  • Monitor and track service charge payments, refunds and adjustments.
  • Review bank reconciliations and support on service charge reporting.

Skills

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years of service charge accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of service charge budgeting, apportionment and year-end processes.
  • Ability to reconcile bank statements with service charge ledgers accurately.
  • Property accounting knowledge and familiarity with lease structures, tenant billing and property management finance.
  • Strong Excel skills required and familiarity with property management systems such as Qube, MRI or Yardi.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with clear and professional communication skills.
  • Highly numerate with experience delivering insight into large volumes of data.
