We are supporting a fast-growing, consumer-focused business in the appointment of a Commercial Analyst to join its high-performing finance team. Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager, this is a key role providing insight and analysis across Buying, Operations and Finance, with a direct impact on pricing, margin and overall commercial performance.
This Commercial Analyst position sits at the intersection of finance and operations, offering excellent exposure to trading teams and the opportunity to influence decision-making across product, supplier and pricing strategies. The core focus of the role is to deliver robust margin and pricing analysis across store, category, supplier and product performance, identifying key drivers and opportunities to improve profitability. You will monitor cost and retail price movements, investigate variances and provide root-cause analysis, while supporting decision-making through clear, data-led recommendations. The role also includes supporting customer and product profitability analysis, including food service and value-add categories, alongside pricing support for international operations.
You will play an important role in evaluating promotional activity and campaigns, modelling margin impact and assessing effectiveness to inform future trading decisions. Working closely with Buying and Category teams, you will provide ad-hoc analysis to support product ranging, pricing strategies and supplier selection, ensuring decisions are supported by accurate and timely financial insight.
The Commercial Analyst role also encompasses product data management and governance, ensuring the integrity of product master data and supporting SKU rationalisation and reporting accuracy. You will help implement controls and processes that improve data quality and reduce errors across pricing, costing and replenishment systems. You will also be responsible for producing clear, concise and impactful reporting for a range of stakeholders, translating complex commercial and operational data into meaningful insights and practical recommendations. Maintaining well-structured documentation and ensuring transparency and auditability across all analysis will be essential.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant and will have experience in commercial analysis, pricing, margin or retail finance, preferably within a grocery or retail environment. You will be commercially aware and possess strong analytical capability, advanced Excel skills and ideally experience with BI tools, SQL or ERP/POS systems. A high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders through data-driven insight are key requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Analyst to join a dynamic and growing business, offering strong career development and the chance to make a tangible impact on trading and financial performance.
