Our client is a listed Plc that is immediately recognised as a market leader in its field. The business recently reported revenues in excess of £150m, along with double digit growth last year. Description
Reporting to and closely supporting the Group Director of Finance, the Head of Financial Reporting will lead all financial reporting, along with responsibility for driving a variety of key strategic projects that will include acquisition accounting and integration. The role works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and directly leads a team of five, managed through two direct reports, as well as mentoring and influencing the wider finance function.
The Head of Financial Reporting will bring in depth knowledge of IFRS reporting, to deliver high quality financial reporting and to maintain a strong control environment. Operating in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial business, the successful candidate will need to develop broader commercial skills as part of a finance function that is central to the operational running of the business. The role will also afford wider exposure to areas such as investor relations, strategic planning, broader corporate governance and direct interaction with the main Board.
Key responsibilities
- Oversight of all financial reporting, including monthly management information and KPIs for the Board and key stakeholders across the business.
- Coordinate financial reporting to the markets and investors, leading the preparation of consolidated financial statements and preparing key accounting estimates.
- Manage the external audit, drafting and reviewing key financial papers and other information required by the auditors.
- Enhance reporting and controls across the broader business, drafting and presenting papers to Audit Committee as required.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, banking covenant and statutory reporting requirements whilst also maintaining and developing relationships with external advisors and partners.
- Provide regular support to M&A activity and other corporate transactions, ensuring planned synergies are realised and acquisitions are integrated into the Group’s controls framework and systems.
Skills
The role requires a professional accounting qualification, with a strong preference for candidates who have trained in a major accounting firm, auditing Plc clients. Experience working in a reporting role within industry is highly desirable, although not essential. Proven IFRS financial accounting skills, along with a strong knowledge of key financial controls, IFRS15 and acquisition/disposal accounting are seen as a pre-requisite.
The successful candidate will need to balance an ability to focus on the details while still seeing the bigger picture, ensuring that financial reporting and controls are appropriate for the needs and requirements across the business. The lean HQ team requires a team player with a collaborative approach, who can build strong relationships across various teams in a people-centric business. The role will suit a self-starter with strong initiative and a natural tendency to be inquisitive and to challenge the status quo.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a leadership role with continuous exposure to the main Board of a successful Plc. The Group has a strong track record of developing talent and promoting high-performers.
