Our client is a well-established, FCA-regulated investment adviser supporting a private family office with a diversified investment portfolio, including a significant property element. The business is currently undergoing a period of development within the finance function, including the implementation of a new accounting system and the transition of certain outsourced activities in-house.
Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will manage a small finance team and take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the finance function. The role will include oversight of financial reporting, portfolio valuation processes and property accounting systems, as well as the preparation of monthly management accounts and portfolio valuations across approximately 30 UK entities and one consolidation. The successful candidate will also oversee statutory reporting, manage audit and tax processes, monitor investment performance against budgets, and ensure timely completion of VAT, CIS, EIS and Companies House filings. The position will also involve improving internal procedures, enhancing management reporting, and supporting finance transformation initiatives.
The successful candidate for this Financial Controller role will be a qualified accountant with a strong academic profile and experience in the investment sector and ideally have strong property accounting exposure. Prior experience managing a small team is highly desirable, alongside solid technical knowledge across financial reporting, tax and compliance. Strong systems and data management skills are essential, and experience supporting finance system improvements would be advantageous.
