Our client is a listed international biotech business, headquartered in London. Following an internal transfer, a new opportunity exists for a Finance Manager to support the Accounting and reporting teams and play an integral role in the day to day running of the business. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Financial Control and contribute to broader finance initiatives such as systems enhancement. Starting in the next few weeks, this is a 9 month FTC which could lead to something more permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing monthly close activities, including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries primarily for accruals, intercompany charges, and prepayments, and performing analytical reviews.
  • Own and manage the close calendar, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met and coordinating deliverables across the wider finance team.
  • Audit preparation for quarterly (10-Q) year-end filings (10-K) under US GAAP, and statutory reporting under UK IFRS.
  • Prepare and review quarterly reporting schedules and supporting documentation for audit and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and automation opportunities across transactional finance, leveraging systems such as NetSuite, Concur, Workday Adaptive, and Workiva where relevant.
  • Assist with annual UK tax filings and preparing supporting schedules, including R&D Tax calculations.
  • Supporting the finance team in the development, implementation and maintenance of the financial controls and processes, including SOX.
  • Contribute to broader finance initiatives including systems enhancement, process harmonisation, policy development, and ad hoc analysis as required.

Skills:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong academic track record.
  • Prior experience in a similar biotech is advantageous but not essential.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset, able to take ownership and deliver results in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Attentive to detail, data integrity and accuracy are key attributes for this role.
  • Experience operating in a SOX-controlled environment or solid understanding of SOX requirements and internal controls frameworks.
  • Able to interact with colleagues across the business.
  • Exposure to NetSuite, Concur, or Workiva is advantageous.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, regulated, or high-growth environment, with the ability to adapt quickly and prioritize competing demands.
