Walker Group provides advanced high-precision manufacturing services from centres of excellence located in the UK and Poland. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Basildon team as a Quality Engineer. This is a fixed term role ending on 04 August 2026.
As Quality Engineer you will provide Quality guidance to the Business ensuring compliance with all relevant standards. You will support the Business and Customer in all Quality aspects, both current and new production plus develop and improve the business, with a focus on Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Key Responsibilities:- Health, Safety and Environment: Ensure all behaviours and activities are in accordance with Company Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures.
- Customer Complaint Resolution: Responsible for all aspects of complaint resolution including customer/internal communication, root cause analysis (8D) & corrective action implementation.
- Audit: Conduct internal audit to the required standards (e.g. AS9100, NADCAP), support/host external audit and customer visits, complete/support non-conformance reports and implementation of corrective actions.
- Workshop Support: Lead MRB activity, Drawing/Standard interpretation and disposition, maintenance/update of route cards and supporting documentation.
- Supplier Quality: Support supplier audit and surveillance, raising of complaints, supplier communication, update of Approved Supplier List, supplier selection process.
- NPI: Responsible for all quality aspects of New Product Introduction including use of appropriate tools where required (e.g. PPAP, FMEA, APQP), production of First Article Inspection Reports, customer communication, resolution of issues, creation of route cards and supporting documentation.
- Process Improvement: Conduct data analysis, support selection of improvement activities, lead and support application of appropriate improvement toolset (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, RCA etc).
- QMS: Support the management and update of the company Quality Management System. Ensure all business activities are conducted in accordance with the QMS.
- Training: Provide training to colleagues and customers when required.
- Business Systems: Support the implementation, development and use of company systems as required (e.g., CC database, Aventa/Factory Master).
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally.
- Ability to self-manage and prioritise workload.
- Continuous Improvement mindset with effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Degree level qualification in an engineering/quality discipline or relevant experience.
- Experience within defence/aerospace manufacturing is preferred.
