Walker Group provides advanced high-precision manufacturing services from centres of excellence located in the UK and Poland. We are expanding our workforce and have an exciting opportunity to join our Basildon team as a Manual Turner.

As Manual Turner, you will operate manual lathes to create or modify precision components to customer specifications.

Manual Turner Key Responsibilities:

• Fully experienced in lathe (Manual Machines)
• Able to read engineering drawings
• Able to work on their own initiative but also be part of a team
• Cut, grind or drill materials as required
• Carefully following procedures and safety guidelines. Including company procedures, operating standards, and process documentation
• Maintain an accurate log of production and equipment problems, adjustments, and repairs.
• Machine inspections for mechanical or safety issues
• Ensure machines are well stocked with tools and material to ensure limited downtime
• Safety focus to ensure themselves and others are safe around operational machinery
• Flexibility to support production requirements during busier periods

Manual Turner Qualifications & Experience:

• Experience of working to high quality standards on precision components
• Knowledge of safety and manufacturing regulations and procedures
• Good knowledge of general engineering practices such as measuring/ marking off/ manual drilling / tapping / fabrication set up and tacking
• Desirable – Experience using CNC machines
