Full job description

Salary: £55k - £75k per year

Working hours: Full-Time or Part-Time / Flexible hours available

Location: Exeter, Taunton, Weston-Super Mare (hybrid working available)

A leading, well-established family law practice is seeking an experienced Senior Family Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with Family Practice Rights (litigation and advocacy) with 10+ years’ PQE to join our growing Southwest based team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a modern, progressive firm known for its high-quality Legally Aided work in the Southwest. We are very happy to speak to applicants interested in relocating.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload, although will be supported appropriately by a highly experienced team of senior solicitors, newly qualified solicitors, trainees and paralegals. Your role will include:

  • Representing parents, family members and children in all aspects of public law proceedings across courts predominately in the Southwest but also further afield
  • Representing children in R16.4 proceedings
  • Being willing to take instructions from competent children
  • Private law children work available
  • Conducting your own advocacy
  • Maintaining professional accreditations
  • Supervision of fellow fee earners
  • Nurturing trainees
  • Travel for meetings and court dates so ability to drive and daily access to a car is essential

You will have the autonomy to run your own files while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with Family Practice Rights (litigation and advocacy) and 10+ years’ PQE in family law
  • Accredited member of either the Children Panel, or Resolution Panel
  • Strong experience handling Legal Aid Casework in children law
  • Excellent client care and communication skills
  • Familiarity with case management systems (LEAP preferred but not essential)
  • Familiarity with CCMS and the HMCTS portal
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment
