A fabulous opportunity for a qualified accountant to join an innovative award-winning engineering practice in the role of Finance Manager to run the Finance Department. You will assist with the leadership of a small team of Accounts Assistants and will undertake all aspects of the financial management including preparation and delivery of monthly reports and quarterly management accounts to the Head of Finance & Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist setting annual budget and monitoring monthly actual performance to budget
  • Review Capex against budget and cashflow positions
  • Assist production of monthly management accounts and management of cash position
  • Liaise with auditors and provide necessary documents
  • Complete quarterly VAT returns in accordance with HMCE regulations
  • Prepare debtors report and carry out weekly credit control for all outstanding debts and liaise with team leaders, Directors and Head of Finance & Operations with updates
  • Manage the firm’s banking requirements and loans for financing capital investments
  • Review work in progress reports to identify potential over-budget projects
  • Prepare monthly project-related reports and report to Directors / Head of Finance & Operations
  • Review and organise licenses and leases for tenants, ensuring rents are reviewed and collected
  • Support and assist the Head of Finance & Operations Manager as required
  • Manage Accounts Assistants
  • Involve in ad-hoc projects
  • Attend Management & Finance meetings with Directors / Head of Finance & Operations
  • Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash
  • Maintain sales and purchase ledger control accounts
  • Review credit card transactions processed by team
  • Review supplier payment runs

Successful Applicant

  • Qualified accountant (essential) with relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills, confidence, assertiveness
  • Teamwork & time management skills
  • Able to prioritise and work unsupported
  • Knowledge of company and taxation laws
  • Commercial awareness
  • Xero
  • Excel – intermediate level
  • Microsoft Office
