Walker Construction is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our growing team for an exciting civil engineering project based in Witham, Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and hands-on Site Manager looking to build a long-term career with an established and respected contractor. Whilst the project is within a railway station car park, previous rail experience is not essential. What is essential is a strong civil engineering background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to hit the ground running on a fast-paced project. The initial project is expected to last approximately 12 months, with ongoing opportunities available within Walker Construction beyond this scheme.
About the role:
- You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Key duties:
- Managing all site activities and subcontractors
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Coordinating labour, plant and materials
- Liaising with clients, stakeholders and the wider project team
- Monitoring progress and resolving issues as they arise
- Producing site records and maintaining project documentation
- Driving programme delivery while maintaining high standards of workmanship
About you:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering projects
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- SMSTS essential
- CSCS Manager Card essential
- First Aid at Work desirable
- Ideally located within commuting distance of Witham, Essex
