Walker Cole International has an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Planner to join a growing manufacturing organisation within the healthcare sector.
This role is responsible for ensuring materials, inventory and production schedules are effectively managed to support manufacturing operations and achieve on-time customer delivery.
Working closely with Procurement, Production, Warehousing, Client Services and external suppliers, you will play a key role in inventory planning, production scheduling, capacity planning and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
This is a hybrid role located in the Herefordshire area, requiring 3 days on-site on and 2 days WFH.
Responsibilities
As the Supply Chain Planner, your responsibilities will include
- Developing short and long-term production and inventory plans to balance supply and demand.
- Forecasting inventory requirements and monitoring stock availability to support manufacturing and kitting operations.
- Managing inventory levels to minimise shortages, excess stock and product obsolescence.
- Coordinating manufacturing schedules to achieve on-time delivery targets.
- Planning capacity in line with supplier lead times and changing customer demand.
- Managing production LOT allocations and stock call-offs to ensure efficient kitting operations.
- Working with warehouse teams to monitor stock expiry dates and reduce inventory waste.
- Liaising with Client Services to communicate production schedules, delays and delivery updates.
- Producing daily, weekly and monthly production and inventory reports for senior management.
- Analysing operational performance and identifying opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
- Coordinating manufacturing activities across multiple production sites to maximise operational efficiency.
- Preparing production documentation, traceability records and stock allocation paperwork.
- Establishing and maintaining appropriate stock levels to optimise inventory investment.
- Building strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, service levels and contractual compliance.
- Monitoring inventory obsolescence and reporting on expiry management.
- Supporting procurement cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have
- Previous experience in Supply Chain Planning, Production Planning, Materials Planning or Inventory Planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using ERP, MRP or inventory management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production and inventory data.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across multiple departments and suppliers.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining quality standards.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process efficiencies.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience within supply chain, production planning or inventory management.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production scheduling.
- Knowledge of inventory control and stock management principles.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP planning systems.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of health, safety and quality standards.
