We are currently supporting a pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation with their search for a Head of Quality Control. This senior leadership role will lead the QC function, ensuring all laboratory testing and analytical activities are delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently, while contributing to site strategy and performance objectives. The role sits on the Site Leadership Team and will work closely with senior stakeholders to define and deliver KPIs, shape operational strategy, and drive continuous improvement across the QC function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the QC function as part of the Site Leadership Team, contributing to strategy and performance delivery
- Oversee all QC activities including raw materials, finished products, stability and validation testing, data review, and investigations
- Ensure GMP compliance, data integrity, and safe working practices across the laboratory
- Develop and improve QC systems to ensure timely and reliable release of results
- Lead, develop, and engage QC teams to build a high performance culture
- Manage QC budget and resource planning
- Drive continuous improvement to improve efficiency, quality performance, and reduce cost of poor quality
- Support analytical method transfers and validation activities, ensuring compliant implementation and documentation
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience; MSc desirable
- Significant experience leading a QC laboratory within a regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences environment
- Strong GMP knowledge and broad experience across analytical techniques (including chromatography, wet chemistry, instrumentation, and microbiological testing)
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and developing people
- Strong communication, technical writing, and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
