About the Role:
The Accounts Assistant supports the UK Finance team with day-to-day transactional finance activities, including sales reporting, invoice processing, supplier payments, staff expenses, credit card administration, reconciliations, and general finance administration.
The role provides support and cover across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking, and other ad hoc finance tasks, helping to ensure accurate financial records, timely processing, and the smooth operation of the finance function.
Key responsibilities:
- Produce daily and monthly sales reports, including data formatting, currency conversions and system uploads.
- Support invoicing processes for sub-rights and co-editions, and assist with related credit control activities.
- Provide Accounts Payable support, including processing supplier invoices, managing approvals, maintaining accurate records and assisting with payment runs and remittances.
- Support biannual processes such as royalty payments and payment practice reporting.
- Manage company credit card returns and staff expenses, ensuring accurate processing, complete documentation and timely follow-up.
- Assist with month-end activities, including reconciliations, journals and data checks, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Provide general finance administration and ad hoc support, including statutory reporting requirements and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Deliver high-quality support across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and wider finance operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and excellent stakeholder service at all times.

Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate evidence of the following skills and/or experience:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or other transactional finance role.
- Good understanding of basic bookkeeping principles.
- Experience of reconciliations and general financial administration.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Comfortable using multiple systems and learning new finance software and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a varied workload while meeting deadlines.
- Experience with Biblio, Dimensions, FocalPoint, and Certify would be beneficial but is not essential.
- A practical, reliable team player with a positive, flexible approach and a willingness to support colleagues and contribute wherever needed.
