Overview

Project Officer - Active Journeys, Schools — England South. Base: West Sussex. Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2027. Full time 37.5 hours per week; flexible working considered. Salary: £29,235 per annum (pro rata for part time).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver behaviour change projects and activities that promote walking, wheeling, and cycling within schools and local communities.
  • Build strong relationships with local leaders, authorities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Supervise and mentor colleagues and volunteers involved in project delivery.
  • Work with children and young people to design and deliver engaging activity sessions; support projects that improve health, wellbeing and the environment.

  • Proven experience of managing small clearly defined projects or delivering work packages as part of a project.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience connecting with different audiences and adapting approach.
  • A proactive problem-solver who can manage priorities and workload.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor others and collaborate to build strong working relationships.
  • Experience planning and delivering activity sessions; willingness to learn and share practical skills like bike maintenance.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Willingness to travel and work at locations to undertake projects on behalf of Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
