Overview
Pharmacy Operations Manager role at Walgreens. Responsible for day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Reports under the supervision of a pharmacist and may supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within company policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with company policies, laws, regulations and business ethics.
- Lead selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Provide training, coaching, and performance management and make decisions regarding discipline and termination as appropriate.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them, assisting with products and services, resolving complaints, and responding to requests to ensure a positive customer experience. Build strong relationships by anticipating needs and promoting pharmacy services.
- Assist the pharmacist in patient care delivery including registration, data entry, preparation of medications, counting, and verification where allowed by law. Support healthcare services such as immunizations and health screenings where permitted.
- Manage core pharmacy workflow and daily schedule, coordinate inventory, ensure cleanliness and stocking of supplies, and oversee non-clinical tasks to maintain efficient operations.
- Recordkeeping and security: assist with required reports and ensure proper recordkeeping and safeguards in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
- Drive technology/process improvements, support change management, and monitor equipment operation and maintenance. Support diversion monitoring and report any concerns to the Pharmacy Manager.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims, follow up with payers, and participate in third-party audits. Support financial analysis and improvements in pharmacy operations and customer service.
- Coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events as directed, and maintain relationships with retail partners and community outreach efforts.
Qualifications
- Basic: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Certification: PTCB or ExCPT (except in Puerto Rico).
- Experience: One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Language: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Schedule: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Immunization: Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System locations).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous people management/leadership experience.
- Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
Salary, Benefits, and Availability
