What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for HGV Grab Drivers to support our operational teams in delivering a safe and efficient network. As one of our drivers, you will deliver and collect materials, signage and barriers to operational sites safely and efficiently supporting the teams to keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses across our network. Most of your day will consist of driving, however there are also physically demanding activities required such as backfilling excavation.

You’ll be relied on to:

  • Collect and deliver materials, plant & equipment as instructed for operational teams in a safe, efficient and timely manner
  • Work within Wales & West Utilities (WWU) policies, procedures and relevant legislation
  • Ensure all daily/weekly vehicle inspections are undertaken and that all defects are reported and rectified within agreed timescales
  • Maintain vehicle condition and present vehicle for maintenance when requested
  • Drive legally and within all road and site speed limits
  • Maintain good, honest and robust communication with coordinators and engineering staff at all times
  • Use approved equipment only, in the correct manner to ensure the safety and health of yourself and others
  • Be proactive with signing and guarding when on site - never leave gaps in barriers and report any defects to your First Line Manager

You’ll need to have:

  • A clean driving licence, minimum category C (preferably CE)
  • The Right to work in the UK
  • Knowledge and understanding of DVSA regulations
  • NPORS clamshell bucket qualification or equivalent
  • The energy to work in all weather conditions
  • A keen sense of pride in delivering great customer service
  • The willingness and commitment to undertaking the necessary training and upskilling
  • A flexible mindset to satisfy the needs of our customers and ensure both your safety and others affected by your work

The following is also desirable:

  • NPORS slinger/signaller qualification or equivalent
  • NRSWA Qualifications (excavation and reinstatement)
