The Opportunity

Do you enjoy helping others and want to make a difference in people’s daily lives? We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team as an Extra Care Catering Assistant/Cleaner at Llys Glan Yr Afon Extra Care Scheme in Newtown. This dual-role opportunity gives you the chance to work as a Part-time Catering Assistant or Cleaner, depending on the needs of the scheme. The main part of this role is working 12 hours per week (2 days per week) as a Catering Assistant. There will also be opportunities to pick up extra shifts in both our Catering and Cleaning teams to cover annual leave, sickness and busy periods. This means additional hours may be available for those who want them, including some weekend work.

What will you be doing?

  • As a Catering Assistant:
    • Serving residents meals
    • Helping with setting up and clearing the dining area
    • Supporting residents with meal choices and ensuring a welcoming dining experience
    • Helping in the kitchen with small prep jobs such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and making sandwiches
    • Helping to keep the kitchen area and restaurant area clean and tidy
    • Following food hygiene and safety standards
  • As a Cleaner:
    • Carrying out routine cleaning of communal areas such as lounges, dining rooms, and bathrooms – there is no cleaning of resident’s rooms required for this role
    • Following cleaning schedules and infection control procedures
    • Ensuring a safe, tidy, and pleasant environment for residents and visitors

This is not a personal care role. You will not be expected to provide personal care or medical support to residents. Your focus will be on catering and cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our residents.
