Main Areas of Responsibility

The overall purpose of this role will be responsible for the efficient and effective management and delivery of the Wales Performance Pathway Programme including:

  • National Netball Centres Competition Squads (Welsh Feathers, U21, U19 and U17 National Teams)

To ensure the identification and development of talented athletes and their progression through the Wales Netball Performance Pathway, you will successfully coordinate, manage, and deliver the teams programme logistics and administration and be the point of contact for all Team Managers. In addition, you will coordinate certain elements of the newly aligned Workforce Pathway (Umpire and Coach Academies).

Delivery of the Welsh Feathers Performance Programme

  • Coordinate the successful delivery of the Welsh Feathers Squad training and competition programme
  • Build and maintain scrupulously accurate databases (includes players eligibility; athlete agreements; UKAD anti-doping training records)
  • Alongside the Event & Partnerships Lead, plan, prepare and deliver international events and competitions, leading on appropriate engagement with officials’ and umpires
  • Manage the planning and delivery of international warm-up matches and training
  • To coordinate the Welsh Feathers Team logistics for all training and competition, working closely with the Head of Performance and the Welsh Feathers Squad Team Manager and Head Coach
  • Manage athlete and team logistics such as travel and accommodation etc., in partnership with the Head Coach/ Head of Performance/ Team Manager
  • Coordination of player movements and appearances in conjunction with the Team Manager and Performance Officer
  • Managing and organisation of commercial activities such as fundraising, camps, festivals, workshops, teambuilding, celebration events and smaller levels of sponsorship.

Delivery of the Performance Pathway Operations

  • Manage and co-ordinate the Performance Pathway including Wales Netball Centres and Competition Squads (U21, U19 and U17 National Teams) ensuring assessment, tracking, and monitoring to maximise player development
  • Ensure there are robust talent identification and selection processes in place to transition athletes through the Pathway.
  • Work closely with the Community Development Team to ensure a transparent pathway for Coaches and Umpires from Wales Netball Centre level upwards
  • Manage the recruitment of Performance Pathway workforce (Coaches, Umpires and Team Managers where relevant) throughout the pathway and plan CPD opportunities
  • In partnership with the Community Development Team coordinate the Coach and Umpire Academy sessions at National Level including advertising sessions, managing bookings, and communicating details to those in attendance

Performance Administration to support the delivery of the above two programmes

  • UKAD lead for Performance Pathway, coordinating workshops, delivering against the UKAD Framework, and support competition squads through any Anti-Doping checks and drug testing
  • Manage all Team Kit related requirements, from design, storage, ordering and delivery within operational timelines as outlined by the official apparel partner for the performance programmes
  • Manage and coordinate equipment and storage for the performance programmes
  • Lead all operational communications in relation to Wales and the Performance Pathway (Wales Netball Centres upwards)
  • Ensure connectivity with the communications lead for wide coverage
  • Manage/advise on all game day operational communications
  • Management and coordination of event staff at Welsh Feathers or Wales Age Group Home fixtures
  • Support Head of Performance to co-ordinate the performance reviews of all National Squad campaigns
  • Manage any conflicts in a transparent way to ensure best resolution for all involved
  • Managing end of season reviews and social elements across the season
  • Performance calendar collation and circulation (in conjunction with the Head of Performance)

Community

  • Maintain and develop community engagement via Fan Zones and player appearances
  • Connect with the wider Wales Netball community team to maximise exposure of both Welsh Feathers Team and Performance Age Group squads’ profiles

General

  • Lead on safer recruitment for workforce across the Wales Pathway, embedding safer practices and culture, ensure all resources are updated annually and circulated
  • Working with the safeguarding leads, manage safeguarding concerns across the Performance Programme
  • Ensure a culture of respect and compliance through fair and ethical practices
  • Written reporting to Head of Performance

Additional

  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Head of Performance and CEO.
  • Proactively comply with and promote all organisation policies, particularly those relating to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Mental Health and Data Protection.
  • Recruit and support interns/students within the Mar/Comms area
  • Cultivate strong relationships across Participation, Business Operations & Performance
  • Represent Wales Netball professionally with partners and networks
  • Ensure all athletes and coaches are aware of communication priorities and that they are on message.
  • Liaise with external consultants to deliver media training

Terms of Appointment

  • Role: Full Time, Permanent Contract
  • Annual Leave: 28 days per year plus bank holidays
  • Based: Cardiff, with work from home flexibility. Travel required for competitions & events (evenings/weekends flex)
