The BRC is jointly awarded by the NIHR to GOSH and the University College London (UCL) GOS Institute of Child Health (ICH). The BRC also leads a Paediatric Excellence Initiative – a translational research partnership between GOSH and Alder Hey, Birmingham and Sheffield Children’s hospitals. The BRC aims to transform the health of children, and the adults they will become, by combining cutting-edge research methods with world-leading clinical trial expertise, to accelerate discovery of new treatments for children with rare and complex conditions. Alongside this, the BRC supports the training and development of the next generation of paediatric translational researchers through local and national career development programmes. Main duties of the job The Head of BRC Operations provides intellectual drive and senior operational leadership for the BRC, as part of the BRC Leadership Team and the GOSH Directorate of R&I Senior Management Team, to develop and deliver a world-class centre for translational research. By fostering a collaborative style; developing and managing delivery plans; and scoping, supporting, and facilitating research initiatives; you will take an active role in defining, managing, and monitoring BRC strategies and deliverables. You will provide high-level support and leadership to the BRC management team, strategic input into the building and sustainability of the research portfolio and entrepreneurial opportunities, and oversee the delivery of the BRC, including accountability for team and financial management, achievement of key performance targets, preparing and delivering operational and scientific reports, and monitoring impact. Minimum Requirements You will have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant research area, and extensive experience working on strategic and operational matters at a senior level in biomedical research in a complex organisation.
