We're looking for an EH&S Lead to bring in-house ownership to our environmental, health, and safety program. This role covers both traditional workplace safety and compliance (OSHA and general industry standards) and the specialized programs that come with building robots — lithium-ion battery handling, fabrication and machine shop safety, and related hazardous work. You'll be the connective tissue between our technical teams, Facilities, and our external EH&S consultant, translating regulatory guidance into practical programs that keep our people safe as we grow.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own day-to-day EH&S compliance, including OSHA record keeping, required reporting, and general industry safety standards.
  • Develop and manage safety programs specific to robotics and hardware work, including lithium-ion battery handling, storage, and disposal, and fabrication/machine shop safety.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical/engineering stakeholders, Facilities, and our external EH&S consultant.
  • Conduct regular workplace safety audits, hazard assessments, and inspections.
  • Manage incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action tracking.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, including onboarding safety training and equipment- or materials-specific training for hazardous work.
  • Partner with Facilities on emergency preparedness, evacuation planning, and ergonomics.
  • Translate guidance from our external EH&S consultant into actionable, day-to-day programs, escalating complex or regulatory matters as needed.
  • Support permitting and inspection needs related to hazardous materials storage as the company scales.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in an EH&S role, ideally within a hardware, robotics, manufacturing, or lab environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general industry safety standards.
  • Experience with hazardous materials programs; familiarity with lithium-ion battery safety or similar energy storage/chemical handling strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable working independently and prioritising across compliance work and program development, with the ability to scale engagement hours as needs grow.
  • Strong communicator, able to work effectively with both technical/engineering stakeholders and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • Experience in a fabrication or machine shop environment.
