We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a small - but perfectly formed - neighbourhood restaurant. Mother & Wild is a neighbourhood spot in the heart of Corsham — seasonal menus, wood-fired sourdough pizza, cracking cocktails, and a team that really cares. We’re part of the Walcot Group (Walcot House, Solina, The White Hart and more), and we’re growing — fast.

You’ll be leading a small hardworking BOH team and supporting the FOH Managers, working with top-quality ingredients, a proper bit of kit, and a kitchen that backs each other. You don’t need to be throwing dough in the air (unless that’s your thing), but do need solid experience running a busy kitchen and creating a motivated team.

The M&W Kitchen Manager is responsible for the overall running of the kitchen. That means balancing people, processes, and performance to make sure every day runs smoothly and our Legendary Pizzas meet expectations. In the M&W kitchen, that responsibility shows up in a few key ways:

  • Leading the kitchen team: setting the tone, supporting development, and keeping standards high during busy services
  • Managing food quality and consistency: ensuring every Pizza & Plate meets brand and customer expectations
  • Maintaining health and safety standards: keeping the kitchen clean, compliant, and well organised
  • Controlling stock and ordering: making sure everything is in place without waste or shortages
  • Driving kitchen performance: balancing cost control with quality and efficiency

A typical day might include:

  • Preparing the kitchen for service, including stock checks and team briefing
  • Leading service and keeping everything running smoothly under pressure
  • Supporting the team and ensuring service runs smoothly
  • Monitoring food quality and presentation
  • Managing orders, deliveries, and supplier relationships
  • Managing the Alert 65 daily checklist
  • Managing team including reviewing performance, costs and creating 3 weekly rotas. Reporting on this weekly to the GM.

Key skills we’d like to see: To succeed in a kitchen manager role, you need a mix of practical kitchen experience and strong leadership skills. It’s about staying calm under pressure while keeping your team focused and motivated.

  • Leadership and team management: getting the best out of people during every shift
  • Time management: keeping service flowing without delays
  • Attention to detail: maintaining consistency in food quality and presentation
  • Resilience under pressure: staying in control during busy periods
  • Communication skills: clear, supportive, and direct with your team
  • Adaptability: adjusting quickly when plans change or challenges arise
