Walbrook Institute London is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Lecturer in Law to lead our School of Law and shape the next phase of our legal education provision. This is a senior, permanent appointment combining academic leadership, programme development, high-quality teaching, scholarly research and engagement with the wider legal community.

You will lead the Law curriculum across both academic and professional training dimensions, take module and programme leader responsibilities, supervise student research, and contribute actively to scholarship in your field. You will also support and develop colleagues, and play a key role in departmental strategy and institutional governance.

We are a growing, London-based higher education institution with a strong commitment to inclusive teaching, applied scholarship, and student success. The role offers genuine scope to influence curriculum design, build a research and impact profile, and shape the direction of a small, ambitious School.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and administration
    • Lead and manage the School of Law, including module and programme leadership.
    • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to academic and staff development.
    • Contribute to departmental strategic planning and institutional governance.
  • Teaching and learning
    • Provide academic leadership across the Law curriculum, covering both academic and training elements.
    • Design, deliver and assess engaging, inclusive postgraduate modules in Law.
    • Supervise student research projects and contribute to quality assurance and enhancement.
  • Research and scholarship
    • Produce high-quality research and impact outputs in peer-reviewed venues.
    • Contribute to the development of the School's research and scholarship culture.
  • Wider contribution
    • Engage with professional bodies and legal practice where appropriate.
    • Contribute to widening participation, outreach and student-success activities.
Skills and Qualification:
  • Essential
    • PhD in Law or a closely related discipline.
    • Proven track record of teaching in the UK higher education sector.
    • Experience developing and delivering LLM curriculum content.
    • Research outputs in peer-reviewed journals.
    • Ability to deliver engaging, inclusive teaching across a range of modalities.
    • Evidence of effective team or project leadership.
    • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Desirable
    • PGCert in Academic Practice, or FHEA / SFHEA.
    • Experience developing and delivering SQE preparation materials.
    • Experience of developing and delivering online or blended programmes.
    • Record of securing external research funding.
    • Contribution to university governance.
    • Legal practice qualification and practice experience.
    • Demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and student success.
