We are looking for a detail driven compliance professional who enjoys turning regulation into practical, workable guidance. Join Walbrook in a high trust role at the centre of data protection and wider corporate compliance supporting colleagues, advising stakeholders, and helping ensure the institution continues to meet its legal and regulatory obligations.

This role sits at the centre of Walbrook’s day-to-day Data Protection and Freedom of Information work. It includes logging and tracking individual rights requests (such as access, rectification or erasure requests), coordinating the internal information gathering needed to respond, and acting as a first point of contact for data protection and FOI queries from colleagues and stakeholders.

Keeping current on the UK Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and UK GDPR is essential, alongside translating requirements into practical guidance. This could include producing short guidance notes, updating internal FAQs, or delivering informal briefings so colleagues understand what they need to do in day‑to‑day situations.

When incidents occur, the focus shifts to coordinating and managing responses to personal data breaches, ensuring appropriate escalation, reporting and collaboration across teams. For example, this may involve helping assess the risk, making sure the incident is logged with the right detail, supporting containment actions, and preparing any required notifications.

Supporting colleagues to complete Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) is another core part of the role, including chasing actions and making sure risks are fully explored and documented. This might involve reviewing a DPIA for a new system, a change to how customer data is processed, or onboarding a new supplier, and ensuring mitigating actions are agreed and tracked through to completion.

A key part of the role is keeping documentation accurate and easy to use, including maintaining and improving data protection policies, privacy notices, processing statements and data mapping (for example, updating records when processes or suppliers change). The Data Protection SharePoint site also needs to stay current so colleagues can quickly find the right guidance and templates.

Strong relationships across the organisation are important, alongside providing clear, proportionate advice and guidance especially when decisions involve personal data. This role can be based in our London Office/Home. However, we would require the successful post‑holder to attend meetings and/or workshop activities on‑site where necessary.

  • Knowledge of Freedom of Information requests.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (including senior colleagues).

  • Ability to deliver key objectives within challenging timeframes.
