Maximising Independence Through Technology Enabled Care
At Wakefield Council, we are committed to maximising independence and enabling people to live the lives they choose for as long as possible. Technology Enabled Care (TEC) is a key component of this ambition, helping people to remain safe, confident and connected in the place they call home. We are expanding our TEC service and strengthening how technology is used across Adult Social Care. We are therefore recruiting two Technology Enabled Care Transformation Officers to help build confidence, consistency and good practice in the use of TEC across services.
About the Role
This is a varied, practice‑focused role within a supportive TEC team. You will work alongside social workers, occupational therapists and partner organisations to ensure technology is considered early and used well in assessments, support plans and reviews. The role combines direct practice support, training, service improvement and innovation. While the work is varied, you will have clear priorities, shared responsibility within the team, and support to manage workload and changing demands.
As a key member of our Technology Enabled Care Team, you will:
- Support practitioners to use TEC confidently and appropriately in assessments, support planning and reviews
- Visit people in their homes and other community settings to trial, review and improve TEC solutions
- Work with partners in health, housing, the voluntary sector and private providers to improve joined‑up working
- Deliver practical, accessible training and advice to colleagues across Adult Social Care and health partners
- Monitor quality, outcomes and value for money, ensuring solutions remain person‑centred and proportionate
- Contribute to service improvement, product testing and innovation projects
- Act as a source of specialist advice within the TEC service, sharing learning and promoting best practice
The role involves a mix of planned work and responsive activity, with opportunities to focus on specific projects as well as day‑to‑day practice support.

- Confident in supporting, influencing and appropriately challenging professional decision‑making
- Skilled at building positive, trusting relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders
- Comfortable working across organisational boundaries and in multi‑disciplinary environments
- Enjoys problem‑solving, thinking creatively and exploring innovative approaches to care and support
- Motivated to help others build confidence in using digital and technology‑enabled solutions
- Highly organised and proactive, able to manage competing priorities and changing demands
- Confident in delivering training, sharing best practice and acting as a source of expert advice
Essential
- GCSE English & Maths (Grade 4/C or above) with significant experience in adult social care OR 2 A‑levels (Grade E or above) with some experience in adult social care
- Strong knowledge of technology enabled care in health or social care settings
