Are you interested in developing your career in Building Control? How far you progress would be up to you, your choice and at your speed, the opportunities will be there should you wish to take them up, fully supported by an enthusiastic and dedicated team. One thing that is guaranteed is that no two days will be the same; one day you might be naming a new road, the next you will be working on our quality management system, the day after you might be on site checking whether developments have commenced. Whatever you’re up to you will be learning, contributing to the team and providing a high quality service to our customers.

The right candidate will start within our support team and depending on your qualifications and experiences and desire to progress you could become one of our registered Building Inspectors. If you are pro‑active, enthusiastic and self‑motivated, then we would welcome your application.

While this is a career graded opportunity G6 – G8 we will offer a starting salary to the successful candidate within the grade range that reflects your current skills, knowledge and experience. The role offers a full range of local government terms and conditions including flexible working, pension and access to further qualifications, such as a Building Control degree.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate a proven recent track record and have some knowledge of Building Control with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be able to plan and coordinate a wide range of short-, medium- and long-term tasks. One of the first tasks will be to become involved in the roll out of the Government's new Building Safety Levy and supporting our readiness for the project to go live, including familiarisation with the pathways and processes.

Good IT skills, accurate record keeping and effective communication skills are essential requirements. A full, clean driving licence and use of a car may also become essential for business purposes. While the post is full time (37 hours per week) we will also consider applications for part time, job share and short-term cover arrangements.

We look forward to receiving your application as we search for the right person to join our team. Please note, the deadline for applications on this role is a lengthy one but may be changed without notice once a sufficient number of applications have been received.
