Are you passionate about improving care standards and promoting independence? We are looking for a Moving and Handling Team Leader to join our Optimised Handling Team, a specialist service supporting care providers across the Council and Independent Sector.
About the Role
This is an exciting leadership opportunity where you will manage a team of Moving and Handling Advisors, deliver expert training, and provide innovative solutions to complex moving and handling challenges. Your work will directly impact the quality of care and safety for adults across the Wakefield District.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Moving and Handling Advisors, including supervision, performance reviews, and team development.
- Coordinate and deliver complex assessments and bespoke training for care providers.
- Provide specialist advice on safe moving and handling practices, ergonomic interventions, and risk management.
- Champion evidence-based practice and challenge unsafe procedures.
- Oversee the development and delivery of formal training (theory and practical).
- Carry a caseload, prioritising work to meet service objectives.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Experienced in moving and handling within health or social care settings.
- Qualified with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or able to demonstrate substantial knowledge and experience.
- Ability to undertake practical moving and handling activities (including handling equipment up to 25kg).
- A strong leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Skilled in risk management, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality training.
- Confident using IT systems and digital record software.
A full driving licence and access to a car with business insurance are essential, as you’ll travel across the Wakefield District.
