We are looking to recruit an ambitious person who is interested in furthering their career in local government as a Registered Building Control Inspector. Depending on your qualifications and experience, we are looking for either an assistant or building control surveyor to help us to deliver a high-quality Building Control service. If you are pro‑active and enthusiastic, we would welcome your application.

Position Details

  • Career graded opportunity G6 – G10, with a potential starting point across the range.
  • Salary for a more experienced officer would be within bands Grade 9 £39,152 to G10 £46,142.
  • We will offer a starting salary to the successful candidate within the grade range that reflects your current skills, knowledge and experience.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the BSR at a minimum of Class 2A.
  • Proven recent track record and in‑depth knowledge of all aspects of Building Control and allied legislation.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to plan and coordinate a wide range of short, medium and long‑term tasks.
  • Good IT skills, accurate record keeping and effective communication are essential requirements.
  • Full, clean driving licence and use of a car is necessary for business purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan vetting and site inspections of building work in relation to all types of buildings within your competency range.
  • Enforcement, dangerous structures and demolitions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.

Working Hours & Arrangements
