Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Manager post in the Pathways and Next Steps Service. If you are driven, flexible, highly motivated and passionate about doing the best for Wakefield children and young people then this is the job for you! You will be leading a team of Personal Advisors and working alongside the Team Manager of Pathways and 16+ accommodation supporting the Service Manager in ensuring the service runs smoothly and our young people are offered the best service possible. You will be joining a team with a strong team culture who are passionate about their relationships with care experienced young people and how this can improve their outcomes. We are looking for someone with a passion to join a team and be a part of continued improvement work in the team so we provide an excellent offer to young people.

Staff are committed to providing Care Leavers with the love and guidance they deserve as they transition through to adulthood.

Working with care leavers is special; I feel proud and privileged every day, when a young person has shared their story, when they have achieved a goal, when they keep moving forward despite the adversity they have faced. We are in a unique position where we can work with young people for up to nine years; watching them grow into adulthood.

We still want to improve, and we will continually seek new ideas, innovative practice and ideas so that we never stand still in our drive to provide an excellent Next Steps service to our care experienced young people.

We will offer

The opportunity to join an evolving team. You will be offered:

  • A good induction and training in areas including housing, emotional wellbeing, EET and finance.
  • Opportunity to develop services for young people such as drops ins/workshops
  • Additional support and mentoring from a member of the team
  • Monthly supervision and senior mentoring to support you in your role
  • Training opportunities including: Liquid Logic, safeguarding and UASC
  • A rewarding post where you can see the changes and improvements, we are making for our care experienced young people.
  • Opportunities to build upon relationships with partner agencies including children in care teams, housing, DWP, Adult social care and other external agencies.

We need a Team Manager who can support our Personal Advisors and Care Leavers to

  • Achieve the high aspirations and ambitions that they have to ensure Care Leavers are supported to reach their full potential.
  • Ensuring timely and meaningful visits and pathway planning for young people to evidence their part in planning for their future (performance).
  • Work together with our care experienced young people to continually shape and improve the Leaving Care offer for Wakefield care leavers.
