What You'll Be Doing:
- As a Cook, you'll be an essential part of our kitchen team, working under the guidance of the Unit Manager.
- Provide nutritious, home‑cooked meals for our service users.
- Perform manual handling, stock movement, and unpacking items.
- Respond to any special dietary requirements or preferences, promoting choice, dignity and respect.
- Read and record information effectively.
- Communicate clearly with staff and users.
- Oversee other kitchen staff on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Provide emotional support to service users.
- Maintain high standard of personal hygiene in the food service.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
- GCSE Grades D–G/Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths & English Language.
- Willingness to undertake appropriate training to stay updated with service changes.
- Knowledge of providing a well‑balanced diet in line with Food Safety Legislation.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Standards.
- Ability to attain Food Safety and Food Allergen legislation (essential).
- Experience catering for larger numbers.
- Experience in food ordering and budgeting.
- Experience planning menus.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Ability to read and record information.
- Strong communication skills.
- Teamwork and independent working capability.
Desirable but not essential:
- Knowledge of First Aid, moving and handling, and additional food hygiene certifications.
- Previous experience in kitchen domestic work.
- Physical skills related to kitchen‑based tasks, including food preparation and assisting the Cook.
